Of Sausage and Lobster

It seems to me that the constant quandry of the modern carnivore (or more accurately, omnivore) is that of 'how much do we need to know?' For instance, many people, when eating sausage or hot dog will say, "I wouldn't eat that, who knows what's inside?"
And they're quite right. With an even slightly disreputable sausage or hot dog, any meat or Psuedo-meat could be slipped in no problem. Cow, pig, horse, human, tofu - use your imagination.
On the other end of the spectrum, many people refuse to eat lobster for the opposite reason - you know exactly what you're eating. The only difference between the lobster on your plate and the lobster in the wild is the color and whether it moves. You're basically given a cooked and gutted lobster corpse, then you break off it's arms and suck out the meat, then crack open it's body. It's downright barbaric.
People have similar complaints about Sushi. When it comes down to it, there's no culinary way to disguise a tentacle.
SO how much do we want to know? Not nothing, and not everything. I think the ideal example is the chicken. A chicken breast one would buy from the store has the shape of a chicken, and is still attached to the bone (Not removed , ground up, and mixed together). On the other hand, it has no feathers or visible external chicken features. Those inclined to know can easily detect is origins, but those not so inclined don't have it shoved down their throats (pardon the pun).
Of course, it's easy for vegetarians. An eggplant looks like an eggplant, and that's just fine.

I can't eat Seafood. It doesn't agree with me.

That's because you're wrong. And the eating of eggplant is barbaric! I mean, look around you Jay...The atrocities being committed. The horrors that go on unchecked in the name of "food." It's a veritable vegetable holocaust.

Armor Hot Dogs is people!
